With the beach and a ball on her mind…

Alexis Hionis approached a group of trusty friends with the idea of utilizing her family’s beloved Virginia Beach event venue for an annual fundraiser for a local charity of choice. Born and raised in Hampton Roads, Alexis had experience with some of the most charitable organizations, and the unprecedented generosity within.

From Virginia Beach’s volunteer rescue squad to the Operation Smile headquarters, these foundations breed innovation, dedication, and persistence for excellence, but consistently come up short on enough funds to support every endeavor.

Enthused by her friends’ overwhelming support, Alexis went full steam ahead and declared the first annual Beach Ball, with the initial year’s profits (over $11,000!) benefiting Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD). As the Beach Ball evolves, we hope to give to many of Virginia Beach’s philanthropic missions.

While the beneficiary may change year to year, one thing will stay constant- the ability of the Beach Ball to bring together Virginia’s finest. Shine your shoes. Polish those nails. Press that suit and tie. Cause you know what, we havin’ a beach ball.
